Colin Scott

Consultant Master Blender
The Last Drop Distillers

World-renowned Master Blender Colin Scott has spend 50 years in the whisky industry. Highlights of his glittering career include the creation of luxury whiskies Chivas Regal 18 Year Old and Chivas Regal 25 Year Old, as well as the growth of the Royal Salute range.

Colin developed an early passion for whisky, as he grew up next to an Orkney distillery. He followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather – who also dedicated their lives to Scotch whisky – when, in 1973, he joined The Glenlivet Distillers as a Trainee Manager in Edinburgh.

In 1989 he became Master Blender for Chivas Brothers. Among Colin’s career milestones are the creation of Chivas Regal 18 Year Old in 1997, and 10 years later in 2007 when he added the Original Legend – Chivas Regal 25 Year Old. He has also expanded the Royal Salute range to include its 38 Year Old Stone of Destiny, Tribute to Honour, 62 Gun Salute, 100 Casks Selection and Diamond Tribute expressions.

In 2020, following his retirement from Chivas Bros., Colin joined The Last Drop Distillers as consultant Master Blender. This remarkable partnership marks the first stage of The Last Drop’s journey to becoming not only curators but also creators. Selecting from their extensive library of maturing Scotch Whisky casks, Colin will work with the team to create unique blends, using his 50 years of experience in the industry. The Last Drop’s inaugural Signature blend will be created by Colin Scott for release in 2021.

This is not the first time that Colin Scott and the families who founded The Last Drop have worked together. This longstanding friendship and rapport began in the 1990s when The Last Drop founders - James Espey and Tom Jago - worked with Colin at Chivas Brothers, particularly on the creation of Chivas 18-year-old: one of the proudest creations of all three men.
