On Tuesday 4th June, women from across the Walpole membership gathered at the top of AllBright's Mayfair townhouse for our latest Women in Luxury event, a series that provides space for discussion and connections for women within our community. After coffee and croissants, Walpole CEO Helen Brocklebank introduced transformation coach Jo Glynn-Smith, who spoke on how to engage and enhance professional and personal networks.
Before Glynn-Smith began professional coaching, she worked in editorial at Harper's Bazaar, where she gained a wide and varied network. From her own example, she encouraged guests to consider their existing connections and the ways in which we can consolidate and understand these relationships, be it over a call or a cup of coffee. “Make sure you're recognised in the universe you already exist in,” Glynn-Smith suggested, before encouraging guests to speak to someone in the room they didn't already know.
The room became energised as Jo advocated for a new attitude towards networking as an opportunity to share advice and information with one another for mutual benefit. “Networking isn't about getting what you want,” Glynn-Smith explained, “it's about giving what you have.”
