Cromlix is a five-star country house hotel owned by tennis player Andy Murray and his wife Kim. Situated in the beautiful Scottish central belt, close to both Edinburgh and Glasgow, and located in 34 acres of private woodland and gardens, this Victorian mansion was totally refurbished in 2023. Kim worked with interior designer Suzanne Garuda to inject style, colour and warmth into the bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas of the hotel. The Sunday Times Style magazine called the revamp a ‘skilful, modern-day interpretation of a country pile”.
Andy’s influence can be seen more in the art that adorns the walls of the hotel, much of it on loan from the Scottish Royal Academy and some from Andy’s own private collection, and luxury items in the bedrooms that make every guest comfortable. Honed from his own experience of travelling the world as a tennis player, Andy insisted on the very best mattresses, faultless Wi-Fi and home-made shortbread made from a recipe handed down by his own grandmother.
The bar and restaurant at the hotel were also upgraded in the refurbishment. The Glasshouse is overseen by award-winning Executive Head Chef, Darin Campbell who insists on using the very best local produce supplemented with in-season ingredients grown in the hotel’s own Kitchen Garden or foraged from the Estate.
The hotel wouldn’t be complete without a tennis court of course, but other facilities include a pickleball court and billiards room, plus there is a private Lochen in the grounds, and the hotel has its own chapel.
