The permanent collection includes some of the world’s most renowned paintings including works by Van Gogh, Monet, Rembrandt and Leonardo. The National Gallery is a place where great paintings of the past inspire new ideas for our future.

Located at the heart of London’s Trafalgar Square, the gallery is free to visit and currently welcomes over 3 million visitors each year, making the gallery the fourth most visited museum in the world.

The National Gallery is committed to international cultural exchange, bringing part of the world-renowned collection to audiences in Shanghai, Korea and Hong Kong in 2023–2025.

In 2024, the Gallery will celebrate its Bicentenary, with a year- long nation-wide festival of art, creativity, and learning, with significant capital projects to rejuvenate the overall visitor experience and accelerate towards being the Nation’s Gallery.
