Burberry appoints Daniel Lee as new Chief Creative Officer

British design house and Walpole Member Burberry has today announced Daniel Lee will succeed Riccardo Tisci as the brand's Chief Creative Officer. Having previously worked in the studios of Phoebe Philo’s Céline and with Donna Karan in New York, the 36-year-old designer most recently enjoyed a successful tenure as a transformative Creative Director for Italian luxury label Bottega Veneta.

Lee will start his new role at Burberry on Monday and will present his first runway collection for the house at London Fashion Week in February 2023.

"Riccardo Tisci has set a bold and elevated design agenda for Burberry. I’m so excited that Daniel Lee is joining to take Burberry into this new phase," says Helen Brocklebank, Chief Executive Officer, Walpole. "He is an innovative and exceptional creative talent, and will be a huge asset at the helm of Britain’s flagship luxury brand."

"I am honoured to join Burberry as Chief Creative Officer," said Daniel Lee. "Together with the team, we will write the exciting next chapter for this legendary British luxury brand, continuing its historic heritage and building on Riccardo’s legacy. I am very excited to be returning to London, a city that champions pioneering creativity and that continues to inspire me."

"Daniel is an exceptional talent with a unique understanding of today’s luxury consumer and a strong record of commercial success, and his appointment reinforces the ambitions we have for Burberry," commented Jonathan Akeroyd, Chief Executive Officer, Burberry. "I am excited about working closely with him and I am confident he will have the impact we are aiming for in this next phase, supported by our talented and experienced teams."
